W&H presents results of High & Heavy study in Straubing

W&H Senior Consultant Wulfram Overmann ope­ned the the­ma­tic ses­si­on ‘High & hea­vy car­go on the Danube: Chances & chal­lenges’ at the in­ter­na­tio­nal busi­ness fo­rumDanube lo­gi­stics meets gro­wing mar­kets held in the Port of Straubing-Sand on 20 March 2019. The co-aut­hor pre­sen­ted the re­sults of the stu­dy ‘High & Heavy uti­li­sing Inland Navigation — Potential Analysis for East Bavaria’ pre­pared by WAGENER & HERBST in 2017.

The stu­dy iden­ti­fied con­sidera­ble po­ten­ti­al of shif­ting over­si­zed and hea­vy load trans­ports, that curr­ent­ly most­ly run on roads, to in­land na­vi­ga­ti­on. The po­ten­ti­al should be rea­li­sed in co­ope­ra­ti­on bet­ween car­go ow­ners, in­land ports, in­land ship­pers and spe­cia­li­sed ser­vice pro­vi­ders as well as per­mit­ting administrations.
