W&H examines opportunities for the railway via TransSib

The EU pro­ject RETRACK ex­ami­nes ways of shif­ting European freight trans­port to rail in the West-South-East re­la­ti­ons. The RETRACK trans­port cor­ri­dor con­nects two ma­jor ports on the North Sea and the Black Sea — Rotterdam and Constanta.

WAGENER & HERBST spe­ci­fi­cal­ly ex­ami­nes the pos­si­bi­li­ty of ex­ten­ding the RETRACK cor­ri­dor to Russia and China via the Trans-Siberian rail­way. The con­sor­ti­um con­sists of 18 part­ners, hea­ded by “The Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research” (TNO). The pro­ject was laun­ched in May 2007 and will end in 2012.
