Dr. rer. oec. habil. Dr. sc. oec. Norbert Hermann Wagener, founder and long-standing managing director and partner of WAGENER & HERBST Management Consultants GmbH, which merged with IPG Infrastruktur- und Projektentwicklungsgesellschaft mbH in 2023, passed away on 7 February 2026 after a serious illness, to the shock and dismay of us all.
Dr. Norbert Wagener established WAGENER & HERBST in 1991 and successfully managed it for 30 years. He worked successfully on over 250 projects in more than 20 countries as a project manager and senior consultant in a wide variety of strategy and organisational development projects for industrial, logistics and public transport companies, as well as for transport ministries and railway companies. He was also co-founder of LNBB | LogistikNetz Berlin-Brandenburg e.V. and a highly respected conference speaker and university lecturer.
Even after leaving the company, Dr. Norbert Wagener continued to be involved in inland waterway, inland port and intermodal consulting projects in Germany and worked as a transport and logistics strategist for the World Bank in India and China on the development of waterways, inland ports and intermodal logistics centres.
His successor as managing director at WAGENER & HERBST, the management and shareholders of IPG and all employees are deeply saddened and will always cherish his memory.
